When You’re Ready
This T-45 from SAPAC Should be Your First EDF Jet

N

ote that the head reads: “When You Are Ready.” If
you have not yet reached intermediate status in your flying skills but still want to fly a jet, go here and pick one. But if you have mastered ailerons, can do a loop and roll, and find your way safely back to the runway, than you are ready for the Goshawk T-45 from SAPAC.  Patterned after the Navy’s  full scale  trainer,  this model is designed  for the intermediate pilot wanting to move into jets.
Our decision to make the SAPAC T-45 our recommended first EDF was not made lightly. We did a lot of research and testing. In that effort we would like to express our appreciation to one of the hobby’s leading EFF experts: Chuck of Chucks Hobbies who educated us on what really constitutes an EDF trainer.
Most so-called model EDF trainers are too small, too “flitty in flight, and way too fast.” The SAPAC T-45 with its generous wing span of over 37 inches makes it a more stable aircraft, easier to fly ,and a lot more visible in the air. Made of foam, it is easily repaired at the field and weighs only 22 oz.  It is certainly not the fastest EDF around, but a slower flying jet is exactly what we want in a trainer.
For our review we acquired the “receiver ready” version which included every thing you see in the “Specifications” in the box at the right. To control it, we used our trusty old
